Here comes $100 oil, and $3 gasoline?

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — With oil prices setting records over $90 a barrel and $100 looking ever more likely, experts say there’s a good chance drivers will see $3 before the end of the year.

“Three dollar in this market is unavoidable,” said Stephen Schork, publisher of the industry newsletter the Schork Report. “At this rate, we’re going to see $4 a gallon.”

These remarkable works of wisdom come from CNN Money’s
Here comes $100 oil, and $3 gasoline. Where the hell has this been looking at prices, Trenton, NJ? Gas Buddy show this to be the least expensive gas in the nation right now. Back when I was trying out the techniques, Charleston, SC was usually the cheapest, but it’s seemed to have slipped in the ratings a bit.

And why am I not anymore? Well, if you remember from a while back, I had started the techniques. Slower driving, drafting behind trucks, stopping the engine before hitting a stop sign or light, all the easiest techniques. That all ended when I got the call from Gary. I took it in for a new clutch, and he called with an update. I forget the exact words, but I remember “need new drive shaft” and “shards of metal.” That pretty much ended my “drift on in to the stop sign and pop the clutch just before the engine stops” technique. The good new is that I saved on labor. It’s going to be a long time before I pop the clutch on that again. So I drove it home, stalling a copule of times since it has a newly adjusted clutch. I hopped in the that evening, ready to go out, and the started, I stalled it, and then it wouldn’t turn over. It wouldn’t even crank. PISSED.

You have no idea how pissed I was. If I didn’t have my son in the , I would have really sweared at the . So I did a little research and found someone else whose wouldn’t start after a clutch replacement. It could be as simple as a fuse, bad connection, or as expensive as a busted timing chain.

So Wednesday morning, I put the key in, just to see if the Check Engine Light would be lit. It lit, and on a hunch, I turned the key. Probably, just to see how pissed I would be for the rest of the day. It started. Holy Crap, it started. It’s been about two months since I purchased gas, and I’m shocked to see prices in my area at over $3.20 a gallon. I think the hippies who are trying to make everyone take public transit are behind the rising prices. I sure am glad we didn’t go to war for oil! Imagine what the gas rates would be if we force Iraq to pay back the cost of their freedom in free oil. On the other hand, maybe that’s what is going on with the rising price of oil. If Iraq does pay back the cost of the war, they will give back fewer barrels if the cost is higher. Anyway, the is running now, I’m semi-happy, and I’m attributing the non-starting of the to vapor lock.
